Mercaane wide wheel pro 2020
After doing considerable research regarding scooters I chose the Mercane Wide Wheel Pro. Being 90kg I needed a scooter that could carry me and not loose performance. This scooter does this. It's solid.
I have had the scooter for 2 weeks and covered about 140km in dry, wet and windy conditions. I am very happy with its performance thus far.
The scooter is a good looking design with a solid platform. It has independent suspension which is very firm but absorbs some of the bumps. I would stay away from scooters with no suspension.
The scooter has an ecomode which is useful for conserving the battery life but also allows for a more gentle take off and acceleration. In the faster mode the Mercane takes off like a bullet and you will easily reach legal speed in an instant.
The scooter has great ergonomically designed hand grips which are very comfortable. The throttle is a little jerky in fast mode but very easy to use in ecomode. The Mercane has a cruise control feature but for me it's unnecessary as the thumb push throttle is great.
I ride the scooter mostly in the bike lane where it has more than enough power, speed and acceleration. This scooter gives you enough power to have some fun whilst remaining safe and in control at all times.
Overall I love the wide solid wheels the solid base plate the duel motors.
The battery life is acceptable and I haven't run it to empty yet and can get to and from most destinations I need to on one charge.
The verdict
If you're after safety, fun, decent battery life without spending over $2k, then the 2020 Mercane wide wheel pro is definitely my go to scooter in Australia. I would not recommend imports as spare parts may be difficult to find and I would also purchase from a boutique dealer such as Chris at Electric Kicks in Melbourne who is passionate about the industry, knowledgable and very helpful.
Summary
Benefits:
- 2 500kw motors was for enough torque to pull you up a decent incline without loosing speed.
- wide wheels eat up rocks and bumps in the road allowing for a stable ride.
- Safer than narrow wheeled scooters.
- Solid and durable
Detractors
- Too much forward and backward movement in stem resulting from poorly designed folding mechanism.
- Poor braking, especially in the wet where it fails to stop in a reasonable distance.
- headlight is basic and not particurarly useful.
- Useless rear mudguard. In wet conditions you and the scooter will be completely covered in dirt.
- Many holes for dirt and grime to fall into.
- No waterproof rating.
Electric Scooters are great fun and can save you alot of money getting around town. The Mercane Wide Wheel Pro is Awesome! 4/5 from me!
